Company History Image was started in 1987 by Chairman John Davies, who has more than 40 years experience in the shipboard photography industry. In 1987, Image started with less than 5 ships and have since expanded to over 40 ships on six cruise lines. In 1989, we first used London-based Pentagram to design the onboard gallery space on Royal Caribbean ships. We also introduced the first onboard photo retail shop and pioneered a personalized video product. Being a part of revolutionary projects is second nature to us at Image. In 1992, Brynley Davies joined Image as Managing Director, bringing a decade of consulting and management experience to the company. It was at this stage that we began a period of growth, partnering with Radisson Seven Seas Cruises in 1992, Holland America Line in 1997, Cunard Line in 2001, and Island Cruises in 2005. In 1998, we became a Charter Associate Member of ICCL, International Council of Cruise Lines. The ICCL is a non-profit trade association that represents the interests of 15 passenger cruise lines in the North American cruise market and a growing number of important cruise industry strategic business partners. In 2001, we began the conversion to digital photography and have been technological innovators ever since. In 2004, we launched Lifestyle Portraiture, a unique style of casual, relaxed posing against a stark white background. In 2005, custom kiosk systems and 3-dimensional crystal engravings were introduced. In 2006, Image launched a new logo (the first since 1987) and new website. Stay tuned for our next innovation as we look forward to 2007 and beyond!
